I am currently a PhD candidate in the Curriculum in Ecology at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. I study ecological restoration of longleaf pine communities on the coastal plain of North Carolina. I am also involved in a conservation and fire management project in association with The Nature Conservancy in eastern North Carolina. As a result of my current work, I have extensive experience in both the scientific and practical aspects of conservation. Read more about my research.
I have a broad background in applied research and spatial analysis. Before pursuing my PhD, I received a Master of Environmental Management degree from Duke University and was GIS Director for Tipton County, Tennessee. Read my CV to learn more about my background and experience.
In general, I am interested in landscape-level ecological processes and their effects on plant communities. After my dissertation, I look forward to a career that involves doing applied conservation research.
